This rare crystal has also been referred to as Angel Hair Quartz because the inclusions of titanium oxide look like strands of hair, in perfect straight lines. Rutilated quartz is a form of clear quartz that is characterised by the presence of needles or strands of rutile within the structure of the quartz crystal. These fine needles are mostly golden but can also look silver, coppery or black. They’re distributed randomly or in spurts and they can be sparse or dense enough to make the quartz nearly opaque.
